   6. What is emphasized in the program?

The program provides children with a well-rounded early education, emphasizing fine arts. Throughout the school year, we will introduce children to a wide variety of topics and interests, building off of what children are interested in to best fit the educational needs and styles of each individual child and the group. We also believe fine arts is a great foundation for a well-rounded education as the arts stimulate creativity and provide an opportunity for learning, not just in an academic sense, but also the social-emotional skills of leadership, friendship, teamwork, and self-love. As such, the program will also emphasize incorporating activities based around dancing, yoga, music, drawing, painting and acting.

  7. What are your guiding philosophies?

A guiding philosophy in Early Childhood Education is to look at the student as a whole and have them lead their learning. We provide students the opportunity to experience the world for themselves by nurturing them through carefully formulated learning activities. Our learning areas focus on art, literacy, science, and mathematics, as well as developmental areas of growth such as gross/fine motor, language, social/emotional, cognitive logic, and reasoning skills. We believe in using observational data collected from children in play to inform curriculum planning that will best cater to each child and the group as a whole. Our aim is to prepare them for Kindergarten and life in an elementary setting.

   8. What are your days off? Will you align with the Pullman School District Calendar?

We will align tightly to the Pullman School District Calendar for school holidays (see HERE for details) If the Pullman schools close due to snow or other natural causes, we will also close.

   9. How can my child try in out? Will you be open in the summer?

Please email our Director at Preschool@ SanctuaryPullman.com to arrange for a site visit or tour.   Sanctuary also has wonderful summer dance camps  where your child can familiarize themselves with our facility. See details under Summer Dance in the DANCE area of our website. Sanctuary fully closes the week surrounding July 4th holiday for a summer break.

  10. Tell me about the facility. Where is the new preschool classroom going to be?

various rooms within the studio. We have designed a welcoming classroom dedicated solely for our preschool students to explore and learn. Our new classroom will be in a large, bright sunny space on the Main Street level we are currently renovating  We also use the outdoors and surrounding community for further learning and exploration via periodic outings to nearby Reaney Park.
